Last night our first large software user guide rolled off the printer. It’s so big that we actually ran out of white paper half way through.

We’ve done lots of technical web content and small user guides in the past (there’s one in our copywriting Portfolio), but this is the first really big software user guide we’ve written. The last few weeks have been very busy, but we’re really pleased with the results. This user guide will be output as webhelp, but we’ve also created PDF versions of a previous phase of the same document. Mathew is becoming something of a Madcap Flare expert after all this single-sourcing, and we’ve found it quite easy to write as a team and split topics out between us. It’s definitely worth all the hard work now it’s finished.

Don’t forget to drop us a line if you need a technical writer, app writer or a custom software user guide. We also now offer document testing from an ISEB qualified test analyst as an optional add-on to our technical writing assignments, ensuring everything we produce is 100 per cent technically correct. Red Robot Media also now has part-time PA and project management support to help us stay on track and stay organised. We’re looking forward to moving into app writing and smartphone user guides next.

I’m now organising our next two technical writing assignments. If you have anything you’d like us to schedule in, please contact us fairly soon so we can fit you in while we’re not so busy.
