If you run an IT or manufacturing business, you may find it difficult to locate a freelance copywriter that can write with authority about your business.

That’s where we can help. Red Robot Media is a small team of technical bloggers, journalists, and technical authors. We produce authentic, well-researched, high-quality content for technical companies.

Our content is consumer-friendly and accessible, striking a balance between technical know-how and accessible language.

We work to your schedule and write about the topics you choose. Just tell us what you want to cover, and we’ll get started. If you’re stuck for ideas, we’ll generate blog topics too.

"Professionalism, expertise, and skill level all exceeded our already high expectations..."

“…Communication was excellent, and the work was all done in time and on budget.

Technical Bloggers On Demand

For technical companies, finding a technical blogger can be challenging.

Many copywriters don’t have the specialist training or hands-on experience that’s required to blog about technical subjects with confidence and authority.

That’s where we’re different.

Our writers are trained in technical writing techniques and have broad experience of working in the IT industry. We also blend content marketing, journalism, and content strategy.

Our aim is to handle all of your technical blogging requirements, freeing you up to run your business so you don’t spend your evenings correcting someone else’s work.

How Our Technical Blogging Service Works

Each piece of content that we write for you will be priced before it’s written. We charge a set rate for writing technical blogs and articles, so you can budget each month.

Our team can source images for your blog, and we always cite sources. Keyword research is available as an add-on service. Equally, we can work from keywords and themes you provide.

When we kick-start your project, we’ll consult with you to find out what you want to cover. Clients usually provide topics or source material, and we go ahead and research each topic ourselves.

Our writers also take a look at your existing website to get a feel for your brand voice and style. If you’re starting from scratch, we’ll help you with strategy. And if you’re really stuck for time, we’ll put the posts straight into WordPress for you.

Technical Blogging FAQs

Who will write my technical content?

Technical content is written by Claire Broadley and Paul Newham.

We think it’s really important that you know who is writing your technical blogs, so you can liaise with them about the direction of your blog. That’s why we don’t outsource any work to third parties, unlike some of our competitors.

What kind of technical content do you supply?

Most digital copywriting services on our website can be delivered for technical topics.

We write blogs, static website content, tutorial and how-to videos, listicles, guides, reviews, newsletters, white papers, ebooks, and press releases.

If you need a user guide for your application, we also provide technical authoring services.

If you require a type of content not listed here, just ask: we can probably help.

Can I have a free sample?

Often, new clients pre-pay for one or two trial blogs before setting up a permanent arrangement with us. But sorry; we can’t provide free samples. We simply receive too many enquiries to make this feasible.

What’s included in the price?

We’ll give you a quote based on the number of articles you need, the length, and the subject matter. The price includes free adjustments or corrections for a set period of time.

For technical blogs, we usually allow a two-week period for you to check the content and request changes. Any changes requested after this would be chargeable.

Can you help with titles for my blogs?

Yes, we can.

Some clients like to have full control over their content, and send us precise directions and titles for every blog. Other prefer us to carry out all of the research and idea generation, so we run their blog on auto-pilot. We are happy to tailor our approach to suit your preferred way of working.

How many blogs should I publish each week?

We recommend that you post a new blog at least once a week. But some of our clients order just one blog per month, while others order more than 25 per month. There is no correct answer; it depends on your overall content strategy.

Where possible, we recommend that technical blogs are developed as long posts; 1,000 words as a minimum, but ideally longer. Readers tend to expect more detail, and the general standards of content in the IT sector are very high.

What kind of topics do you cover in technical blogs?

Typically, we write about hosting, WordPress, IoT, software and IT hardware, social media, marketing, SEO, cloud, unified communications, data quality, gadgets, STEM, smart home technology, and general small business topics.

We also work for hardware manufacturers in computing, supply chain, and similar industries.

Remember: technical blogging doesn’t just have to be about your products and services; it can also offer tips and guides to a broader audience.

When do I pay for my technical blogs?

Advance payment gives you the freedom to pay upfront for quick orders on an ad-hoc basis. Monthly payment allows you to pay by bank transfer for the content supplied in each month; you’ll need to sign a contract for this.

If you opt for a retainer, we will offer a small discount on your content if your order exceeds a certain value and you pay upfront for it.

(Clients outside the UK may be asked to pay in advance for all assignments.)

How can I pay for technical blogs?

We prefer bank transfer in pounds sterling or euros. You can also pay via Direct Debit or bitcoin.

We take Apple Pay and credit or debit cards in person, online, or over the phone, but we don’t currently take PayPal.

What should I do if my content needs to be changed?

All technical blogging work is guaranteed for quality. If you need anything to be changed or rewritten, we are happy to carry out unlimited revisions within two weeks of delivery until the content is exactly what you need.

If we have not had any change requests after two weeks after delivery, we assume that the content has been accepted and the revision period will close.

Can I pay you for a link on another website?

We don’t sell links or placement on third-party websites. If you require this service, you will need to pay a third party for link building services.

Do you offer same-day turnaround on technical blogs?

We will always try to help. We do recommend that you always give us 7 days’ notice to avoid disappointment.
